Kung Fu Fighting

So Alanna loves the movie Kung Fu Panda. She is truly a fan of Jack Black since she loves Nacho Libre too. She likes to Kung Fu FIGHT!! Even though she is in a princess dress, check out the cute video. She has done this dance MANY times!

Blog Update

Okay...so I am finally updating my blog 6 months after my last post... So I will add some pics to the last 5 months of our lives!

We celebrated my birthday in January. I turned 29!! One more year to 30. It was great. We had cake & ice cream with the girls and dinner with friends. Alanna and a friend helped me to decorate the cake. It had a lot of colored sugar on it. But it was sweet of them and they were all great. Duston got me a great present. A silver locket with the girls pictures inside.

We've had fun with the girls. They are so cute and make us laugh. Duston does this thing with them and they all laugh obnoxiously! They love it!

Check out the pics of family fun so far this year.

Recipes!

Okay...I am actually posting these because Melissa Graber requested them... but we love them and so I hope anybody else wanting to try these yummy recipes copies them down. Tell me what you think if you make them:

#1. Chocolate Chip Cookies (classic but this is the best recipe out there)

Ingredients:
1/4 C. Sugar
1C. Brown Sugar
3/4 C. Softened Butter
1 Egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
2C. Flour
1C. Chocolate Chips

Mix butter and sugars in mixing bowl on low speed until well blended. Add egg and vanilla. Mix again while scraping sides. Add dry ingredients. Stir in chocolate chips.
(Tip: if you want a more flat chewy cookie, be careful not to overmix. If you want a more fluffy but still soft cookie, mix a little more. It's all about the eggs)

Drop by teaspoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheet. Bake in preheated oven at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.
Enjoy!!!
(Tip: sometimes it pays to buy the good chocoalte chips, ghiradelli or guittard)

#2 Turkey or Beef Enchiladas

Ingredients:
1lb. Ground turkey or lean beef
2 cans refried beans
2 cans green chilis
onion powder
garlic owder
ground cumin
ground pepper
3 cans enchilada sauce (red)
10 taco sized flour tortillas
4 C. shredded cheese
1 can sliced olives
Tip: I use Old El Paso brand of beans & sauce

Cook turkey or beef and add spices to taste. Drain off fat from beef if necessary. Add green chilis and beans with about 2/3 of the bean can of water. Mix well and cook until really hot. Set aside.

In casserole pan, coat the bottom of the dish with enchilada sauce. Dump the rest of the can plus the other 2 cans in a shallow dish. (I use a pie dish).

Coat the front and back of the tortilla with the enchilada sauce. Put two big spoonfuls of the bean mixture in the center of the tortilla and rolls and place in dish. Do that until you run out of ingredients or room. Empty remaining enchilada sauce on top of your dish.

Sprinkle the other can of green chilis on top of rolled enchiladas and top with lots of cheese and olives.

Cover with foil and bake in preheated oven at 350 degrees for 30 min. I ususally take off the foil after 30 min and broil it a little to make the cheese looky yummy.

Enjoy!

Doodie in the tub!

Okay...so as I was getting the girls out of the tub today, I saw something on the bottom of the tub that did not look like a toy. I said. "What is that?" and then it dawned on me. Doodie. Only not like the candy bar in Caddyshack. Although, I promtly got my girls out like the poolgoers in the movie and put them right into the shower to clean them...again. I would have laughed except this is not the first time this has happened to me...recently. So again, the toys are going in bleach water. YUCK! Luckily enough, Duston went fishing..not me.

Christmas at the Todd Home! Yeah!!!

We had a ton of fun. The girls were so cute this year. It was all magical for Alanna, even though I think she asks too many questions for a 5 year old. We had to start getting creative. I kept trying to change the subject so I wouldn't have to answer too many things and then worry if Duston and I had the same story.
My dad made Alanna a really cute pink oven. Pink is her favorite color. Her big gift this year was a doll house. Even though she has been playing more with the moon sand and the oven and new dishes (given to her by her other grandparents).
Ava loves her new little bike thingy and is so cute when she tries to climb the stairs in Lana's barbie house or squeeze herself into the kitchen.
Duston and I got ourselves an XBox and Guitar Hero after having so much fun playing at the Graber's house. We are going to practice a lot and try to get better. Duston teases me about being his "rocker wife". Ha Ha Ha! I like it...what can I say?
Anyway...we felt humbled and blessed to have such a wonderful Christmas in the face of a lot of hardship all around. We made sure to thank Heavenly Father for all our abundance.
Check out the Christmas Slideshow!
God Bless!

Sledding!

Duston took Alanna and her cousin Brooklyn sledding last Saturday. They had fun even though Alanna is not our adventurous one. Still... I thought it was cute. Too bad I couldn't really go.

We went a lot when we were younger. For our ward parties, we went tubing at the Mtn. Dell golf course up Parley's Canyon. That was when the church didn't have to worry so much about being sued or anything. Now, they don't let you do things like that for ward activities.

Anyway... we would have so much fun. We put a lot of people on 1 huge tube, they went cruising down the mountain. We finished it all off with hot chocolate and donuts. It was great, even though I am allergic to the cold so I couldn't do as much as the other kids. I had to take breaks between the fun to warm up before I went out again.
Now...doctors orders. No sledding. At least I can still watch my kids though, right?

Well, here are some pics and a video clip of Alanna & Brooklyn
